Yoga Morning Routine: Sun Salutation

For those who still believe yoga is only for women and is all about flexibility, let me tell you something: you’re wrong.

You don’t do yoga because it’s trendy, you do yoga because:

    • It helps you be more flexible, of course
    • It helps you develop muscles
    • It helps you solve particular internal health problems you might have
    • It helps you relax and get rid of your stress
    • It helps you refocus on your body
    • Etc.

I began taking a yoga course back in July just because I was curious. I tried it at home once, but it didn’t went well so I gave yoga another chance, this time with a teacher. The difference was incredible!

You see, if you don’t believe yoga will help you physically AND psychologically, you might eventually stop doing it. Plus for some people, training should be active, not necessarily calm. But then, you close your eyes and just take a few minutes to appreciate the present moment, to take a little break… and it feels so great.

I bought myself a yoga mat, blocks, a mat bag, clothes and a strap… fully equipped. Why? Because this time I had another motivation: me.

Me as a relaxed person and me as a healthy person.

During December, you might feel a lot of stress and won’t have a lot of time to take care of your body. Here’s the solution:

Do this morning routine everyday, just after getting out of bed to awaken your body. Repeat the circuit 4 to 5 times or until you feel totally awake.

Focus on your breath and try to clear your mind of any thoughts. But if they come, don’t judge yourself, let them go and refocus.

I promise, it will help.

Here (picture below), you might not be able to touch the ground with your palms. It’s okay, you can bend your knees a bit if that’s the case.

Here (picture below), place your knees on the ground first, then your chest, then your hips. Don’t just “fall”.

Here (picture below), push your shoulders away from your ears.

Here (picture below), try to lift your glutes as high as possible but still keep your legs flexed.
